Biblical Sexuality (choose one)
For this skill an Equipping Partner of the same gender is recommended.
- Real Life Plus
- Attend RealLife Plus Seminar.
- Complete instructor’s exercise.
- Discuss with an Equipping Partner.
- Cru.Comm bible study
- Work through the Cru.Comm Bible studies on 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 (student notes, https://staff.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/cms/content/00000086925.pdf and leader notes, https://staff.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/cms/content/00000086926.pdf) and 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (student notes, https://staff.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/cms/content/00000086944.pdf and leader notes, https://staff.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/cms/content/00000086945.pdf). Write out thoughtful answers to the questions in the student notes and then read the material in the leader’s notes and the article by Dan Hayes (https://staff.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/cms/content/00000086927.pdf). (You may need to get these articles from the Wilson House or have your staff coach email them to you.)
- Based on your reading and reflections, compose a statement of personal sexual ethics in which you mark out the boundaries for your own sexual thought and behavior. Let your statement reflect known areas of weakness. Let it be broad enough to cover the varieties of situations we all face and specific enough to keep you safe in temptation.
- Discuss the exercise with an Equipping Partner. Ask him/her how they wrestle with these areas; and if appropriate, share your statement of personal sexual ethics.
- Accountability
- Work through the following articles, looking up all Scripture references and writing responses where appropriate: “Personal Purity” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/purity.htm), “Establishing Convictions and Deciding your Limits” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/limits.htm), “Accountability” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/accountability.htm), “Accountability Partners” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/acctpartners.htm), “The Accountability Factor: How to Promote Healthy Relationships” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/promote.pdf), “The Accountability Factor: When Friends Fall, Confronting Sexual Sin” (http://www.godsquad.com/Squadroom/Resources/Discipleship/confronting.pdf).
- Reflecting on potential sources of sexual temptation in your own life, compose a list of five to eight specific questions that if asked of you regularly would help you grow in Christian chastity.
- Ask a friend of the same sex to join you in a mutual accountability relationship and invite him or her to ask you each question on your list (at least) once a week for four weeks.
- Then discuss the experience with an Equipping Partner.
